Resource Allocation/Year

[About Resources] [To Project Management]

Usage

Use this window to manually spread and verify it per year. The load hours per year have to be manually entered into the table and the result is immediately shown in the graph.

The graph shows the consumption of a resource by a single activity compared to the total consumption (by other activities) between activity start and end date. If the activity starts or ends in the middle of a year only the part of the year within the activity period is shown.

The information displayed is the resource usage of all the activities, spread across all the years available, according to the calendar for the resource group. You can scroll through the entire activity period and view the resource allocation changes. This is useful to identify over allocated resources as you add resource connections to your project.

The bar shown for each year is the total usage allocated for the year on the X-axis, assuming an even spread in usage across the activity dates in the year. The Hours portion of the bar is the usage based on the resource connection of the selected activity, and the Other Hours portion is the usage of all the other activities.

The normal capacity limit defined for each year for the resource group is displayed as a line in the graph. This shows you how your planned resource usage relates to available resources.
