Move Serial from Facility to Inventory
Explanation
This activity is used as a first step to move a serial object from facility to
inventory. The purpose with moving a serial to inventory is to replace a serial
object with another, e.g., a more modern object.
In the Aviation industry, it is a requirement that all components and assemblies
that are not installed in a structure are accompanied with a tag that can be used
to clearly identify the component or assembly and its current status. This tag,
referred to as a serviceability tag, provides detailed information on the status
of the component such as serviceability, Time Since New (TSN), Cycles Since New
(CSN), Time Since Overhaul (TSO) and Cycles Since Overhaul (CSO) as well as its
origins. Through this activity, you can choose to print the tag report when moving
the serial object to inventory.
Prior to moving the serial into inventory you have the option of changing the
operational condition of the serial to either Operational or Non Operational.
Prerequisites
Before a serial object is moved to inventory, the following must have been completed:
- The current work order must have been retrieved in the window.
- If a serviceability tag is to be printed, the serial should not have the
Not Applicable operational condition.
- If a serviceability tag is to be printed, the serial should have a current
position of either In Inventory or In Facility.
- If it is a configurable serial object (i.e. a serial object that is
registered with a part that is configurable) it has to have a configuration
(in status Completed) in order to be moved to inventory. If it has
not got a configuration you must do the move from a repair work order, where
you will be allowed to enter a configuration.
System Effects
- The serial is moved from the facility into inventory.
- If you have selected a new operational condition, the operational condition
of the serial is changed to the new value.
- If the Print Serviceability Tag check box is selected, the serviceability
tag is printed for the serial. The serviceability status is automatically determined
by the system based on the operational status and operational condition (current
or new operational condition) of the serial. Therefore,
- If the operational status of the serial is Scrapped, the serviceability
tag is printed with the Scrapped serviceability status.
- If the operational condition of the serial is Operational, the
serviceability tag is printed with the Serviceable serviceability
status.
- If the operational condition for the serial is Non Operational,
the serviceability tag is printed with the Unserviceable serviceability
status.

Procedure
Use the following procedure to move a serial object to inventory:
- Open the Report In Work Order window and populate (F2) or
query (F3) for the relevant work order number.
- Right-click and click Move Serial to Inventory. The Move Serial
to Inventory dialog box opens.
- General information on the object to be moved is displayed in the upper
part of the dialog box.
- If the condition code functionality is enabled for the serial, enter a valid
condition code in the Condition Code field. Click List to select
a valid value.
- In the New Operational Condition field, enter the new operational
condition for the serial. Valid values are Operational and Non Operational.
Entering a value in this field is optional. Note: If this field is left
blank when moving the serial to inventory, the serial will receive its current
operational condition.
- Select the Print Serviceability Tag check box if you want the serviceability
tag to be printed for the serial. Note: If the value of the PRNT_SERVICE_TAG_ACS
object property (System LU Values/Object Property)
is set to TRUE, this check box will be selected by default. The value
of this check box can be changed, if needed.
- In the Location No field, enter the identity of the location within
the inventory to which the serial is to be moved. Click List to select
a valid value.
- Click OK.
