Connect Tools and Facilities to Work Order
Explanation
This activity is used to plan the usage of Tools and Facilities when performing
any kind of maintenance. Tools and Facilities are resources that are not
personnel, but are still required for performing the maintenance.
When planning the work order you can choose to only
enter the tool or facility type on the tool and facility line. If a tool and facility line does not contain a tool or facility ID or a site, a
dialog box appears when you try to change the status of the work order (to
Prepared or a higher status) where
you have the option of entering the tool or facility ID, site and maintenance
organization. Note that when reporting time on a tool and facility line, a tool
or facility ID is required to be entered. The tools that
need to be rented for work order should be initiated from tools and facilities
as well. You can decide whether the tools to be rented in from a supplier or
use tools from your own inventory. This is decided from the rental supply
option. It is required to enter the part number and other
planned rental information to initiate rentals from tools and facilities.
Prerequisites
- Tools and Facilities must be defined and connected to sites in the
Tools
and Facilities window.
- Operations and jobs must be defined prior to
connecting required tools and facilities if the tool or facility is to be
connected to either an operation or a job. The connection between a Tool and Facility and an operation is mandatory if
the work order belongs to a VIM serial object.
- Purchase parts must have been defined for rental
tools and the Acquisition Type of purchase part should be set to
Purchase and Rental or Rental Only.
System Effects
- As result of this activity, a tool and facility line
will be connected to the work order.
- For rented in tools, corresponding purchase requisition
line and material line will be created. (Material line will only be
created for inventory parts).
- For internal charging, corresponding material line will
be created.
