Use this tab to view, register, update or delete operational parameters. Operational parameters are used to measure the utilization of serials. You can also define a formula for calculating an operational parameter. The formula will only be used if the operational parameter is set to be Calculated in the Operational Parameters per Maintenance Group window.
The operational parameter contained in the formula must be defined as valid, and enclosed with brackets ('[' and ']') so that the system can identify the operational parameter, for example, the parameter FLIGHTHOURS must be defined as '['FLIGHTHOURS']'. Note: An operational parameter cannot be included in its own formula.
Once you save the record for a new or modified parameter which is associated with a formula, the formula is evaluated by replacing all operational parameters with 1 in order to identify syntax errors in the formula. Syntax errors could be misplaced/missing brackets or left/right parenthesis. If syntax errors do not exist, the formula is evaluated once again using the value 0 (zero) in order to detect errors when dividing by 0. If errors related to dividing by zero exist, an error message is displayed although you are allowed to enter a formula. However it is important to remember that the formula may fail during an operational logging, for example, the formula for the parameter 'TRIPS' could be ([FLIGHTHOURS] * 0.25) + ([ENGINEHOURS] * 0.75).
Note: An operational parameter cannot be deleted,
if it is referenced in a formula for any other operational parameter.
if it is used for a serial part and a maintenance group.
