Enter Milestone Templates

Explanation

Use this activity to view, modify, or enter milestone templates. This optional procedure of creating templates can be used to simplify the entry of milestones on a customer order line. Milestones can be used to monitor the progress of a customer order line against key indicators or progression steps. The milestone can define the steps or procedures that need to be completed, the progress percentage, lead time, and sequence of the milestones. This could be useful, for example to track the progress of completing a complex and expensive sales part, which in turn could be connected to staged billing. As certain milestones are reached, then billing for portions of the sales price could be issued.

Procedure

  1. Open the Sales Basic Data window.
  2. Click the Milestone Templates tab and populate, if desired, to view existing templates.
  3. With the cursor in the Template ID field, select New.
  4. Using no more than 5 alphanumeric characters, enter a template ID.
  5. Enter a template description.
  6. In the table area, select a line and select New.
  7. Using no more than 5 alphanumeric characters, enter the milestone ID, description, percentage progress for this milestone, lead time, any previous milestone, and notes.
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining milestones.
  9. Save the template.
