Update Actual Demand for One Spare Part Family

Explanation

Use this activity to update the existing actual demand for the selected spare part family. This method creates spare part forecast records of the type Order for each day that a customer order has been placed for a spare part in the selected family. The consumed forecast and actual demand on this record are set by the order quantity. These records are required for the processing that occurs prior to order shipment. When an order ships, the system attempts to decrement (by the quantity shipped) the forecast quantity, consumed forecast, and actual demand on forecast records for the spare part.

This method should be run only once per spare part family, after the spares functionality has been installed. There are three Update actual demand methods in the system to allow for different update scenarios. This method allows you to update actual demand selectively for one spares family. Note that running multiple Update actual demand methods on the same part or set of parts will artificially inflate the existing actual demand for that part at the time that the spares functionality is installed.

Prerequisites

• A spare part family should be created, and one or more spare parts must have been created and associated with that family.

System Effects

As a result of this activity,

• The system creates a forecast record of type Order for each existing customer order that has been placed for any part in the family.
• If there are multiple orders for a spare part on the same day, only one Order type record is created.
• The forecast quantity, consumed forecast, and actual demand on this record equals the sum of all the order quantities for that day.

Procedure

1. Open the MRP Spare Part Family Forecast  window.
2. Query or enter the required spares family you wish to update in the Family Code field.
3. Right-click in the header area and then click Update Actual Demand for Current Spare Part Family. Note this is a background job; you can monitor the job's status via the  Background Jobs window.
