Define Planning Method

Explanation

Use this function to specify the planning method for a part. The planning method is used when new requirements are planned to create order proposals for manufacturing in IFS Manufacturing and to create order proposals for purchasing in IFS Distribution. Planning methods control the planning data you must enter for the inventory part.

Prerequisites

The inventory part must have been registered.

Note: MRP does not process parts with planning methods B, Order Point Planning; C, Replenishment Level; M, Manufacturing Cell Part; or N, Next Level Demand.

System Effects

Planning methods control the planning data you must enter for the inventory part. Depending on the selected planning method, the system handles planning of new demands differently.

The planning systems will create supply requisitions, orders, or schedules depending on the supply type selected. The system sets the supply type to Schedule for a part to be used as a production scheduled part. A production schedule will be produced for every part marked with a supply type of Schedule and that has been associated with a manufacturing cell.
