A standard job serves as a
template for preventive maintenance (PM) actions, by simplifying the creation of the PM
action. A standard job can be either a Route Standard Job or a Separate Standard Job.
The
difference between a standard job and a PM action is that the standard job as a template is not connected to an object but to
the categories. Also, a PM plan will not be generated on the standard job even
though generation criteria can be defined on the standard job.
Standard jobs can be categorized according to the object's object type, object category, type designation, and part number. They can also be categorized as mobilization or demobilization jobs, to be used in a rental business process. The categorization helps to group similar standard jobs together. Another way of grouping standard jobs is to connect the standard job types. Examples of standard job types are: Overhaul, General Maintenance, Inspection, Assemble, etc.
PM actions can be directly generated from a standard job. When a PM action is generated, all the information included in the standard job will be copied to the PM action. Consequently the information will be copied to the work order generated from the PM action. Standard jobs can also be connected to the work orders and service contracts.
New Standard Jobs can be created by copying existing Standard Jobs. Note: You can only use this feature to create new Standard Jobs, and not to create new Standard Job revisions. Standard Job revisions are created using the Create New Revision right mouse button option.
Revision control give you the possibility and control on deciding having revisions of standard job or do all updates on standard job itself without having revisions.This can be performed in two ways; either on the Site window or on the Separate Standard Job window. If you enabled it on site, when new standard job is created using that site will automatically get the Revision Control enabled and vise versa. If revision control is enabled a standard job revision that is in use (i.e., a revision where the PM actions have been generated, or where connections have been made to PM actions and work orders through jobs) can only be updated with restriction. Major changes such as entering generation criteria or changing the maintenance organization cannot be performed. When major changes are required, a new standard job revision has to be created. If revision control is disabled you can make any changes to the same standard job without having to create new standard job revisions.
The status of a standard job revision can be any one of the following:
Preliminary - A new standard job or a new standard job revision will always receive the Preliminary status. A preliminary standard job revision is not considered to be active, i.e., it cannot be used to generate PM actions or to connect to work orders or service contracts. A standard job revision in the Preliminary status can be updated and deleted. You can have more than one preliminary standard job revision at any given time.
Active - An active standard job revision is used to generate PM actions, and it is also connected to work orders or customer service contracts. If revision control is enabled, an active standard job revision can only be updated as long as the PM actions have not been generated, or as long as connections do not exist to the work orders or service contracts. Minor changes (such as changing the planner or the operational status) are allowed. If you want to make major changes (such as connecting new material lines) to an active standard job revision which has connections to PM actions, work orders, or service contracts, you can do that by creating a new revision or do it in the same form by disabling revision control. A standard job can only contain one active revision at any given time. Therefore, the previously active standard job revision's status will be set to Obsolete by the system, once the new revision's status is set to Active.
Obsolete - A standard job revision is set to Obsolete when it is no longer in use, i.e., if the revision is outdated or invalid (described below) or when a preliminary standard job revision's status has been changed to Active.
The status of the standard job revision is changed by using the right mouse button options. A new standard job revision can be created from any status.
The effectiveness of an individual standard job revision can be limited by providing a life span. Standard jobs which fall outside the specified date limits are invalid or outdated and should be made obsolete.
The life span will be inherited by the generated PM action, and will in turn be used to limit the effectiveness of the PM action. Note: In order to generate PM actions, a standard job revision must be active and valid.
It is also possible to connect calendars to standard jobs. Calendars are defined in IFS/Application Services. The calendar will be inherited by the generated PM action, and will be used when generating the PM plan.
A separate standard job can be connected to a separate PM action, a separate work order, or service request through jobs.
You can enter work instructions, operation requirements, material requirements (for inventory parts as well as non-inventory purchase parts), tool and facility requirements, external costs, expenses, PM action generation criteria, and also connect documents and permit types to a separate standard job. Furthermore, you can specify how the operation, material, tool and facilities, and other expenses defined on the Standard Job should be invoiced to a customer by defining the quantity to invoice, prices, fixed price, etc in the relevant tabs (this feature is only applicable to IFS/Service Management).
A separate PM action will receive this information if a separate standard job has been connected to it through a job, or if the separate PM action is generated from the separate standard job. Consequently, the information will be copied to the separate work order generated from the separate PM action. If a non-inventory purchase part is defined as a material requirement in the Separate Standard Job, a purchase requisition will automatically be created when the Standard Job is connected to a Separate Work Order, or when a Work Order is generated from a Separate PM action (which has a Standard Job connected).
A Separate Standard Jobs can be connected to a Service Contracts. On the Service Contract you connect the Standard Job to a work type valid for a certain object or object structure. The Standard Job will be automatically connected to the service request (through Jobs) when the Service Contract is entered.
A route standard job can be connected to a route PM action or a route work order. You can enter work instructions, material requirements, PM action generation criteria, and also connect documents and permit types to a route standard job. A Route PM Action will receive this information if a Route Standard Job has been connected to it through a job or if the Route PM Action is generated from the Route Standard Job. Consequently, the information will be copied to the Route Work Order generated from the Route PM Action.
