Explanation
This activity is used to search in GIS Map
window. It's possible to search by using IFS business object key values. It is also possible to search
on editable layers attribute information in GIS system or by using a proximity.
Note! It's also possible to search in IFS windows and navigate with
the result to GIS Map window. A search can also be done in GIS
Connections window and a right-mouse option enables navigation to
GIS Map window and business objects home window.
Prerequisites
Editable layer must have been made available for the user in GIS
Layer Group window.
Business object searches requires business objects to have been connected
to GIS objects.

GIS objects found are highlighted in the GIS Map window.

Procedure
Business Object Search:
- Open GIS Map window.
- Go to Layers panel and toggle on editable layers to search in.
- Click on magnifier icon to open Search and Select panel.
- Enter a value in Business Object Key field.
- Click Search.
Possible information to search for in Business Object Key field.
- Open GIS Connections window.
- Populate the window.
- Notice the column Key Reference and its values.
The above business object search finds values in Key Reference field,
for example:
- Search for equipment objects in site 70 and where Object ID starts with
PM-34: CONTRACT=70%MCH_CODE=PM-34%
- Search for fault reports where number starts with 200: WO_NO=200%
Attribute Search:
- Go to Layers panel and toggle on editable layers to search in.
- Click on magnifier icon to open Search and Select panel.
- Select layer in Layer drop down list.
- Click on Attribute Search checkbox.
- Select attribute, operator and enter a value.
- Click Search.
Proximity Search:
- Go to Layers panel and toggle on editable layers to search in.
- Click on magnifier icon to open Search and Select panel.
- Select layer in Layer drop down list.
- Click on Proximity Search checkbox.
- Enter a value for radius in Proximity distance field.
- Select a unit and click on Search button.
- Click on a point in the map.
The following options are available for Business Object Search, Attribute
Search and Proximity Search:
- Click to Select - Use this tool to select and unselect objects in
the map.
- Keep selection between searches - This option enables you to
stepwise create combinations of above searches. It keeps previous
found GIS objects highlighted when executing a new search.
- Do not zoom - This options turns off the automatic zoom. Keep this option
on and it will center the map
when one object is found. The map will also zoom if more then one object is
found.
- Clear selection - This will unselect objects in the map.
- Clear selection option is also available in GIS Map's right-mouse
menu.
Attribute Table:
- Go to Layers panel and toggle on an editable layer.
- Click on table icon to open attribute table.
- Click on a record and notice how the GIS object is highlighted in the
map.
- Hold down keyboard Shift key and select a list of records in attribute
table by using keyboard up or down arrows..
- Hold down keyboard Ctrl key and select individual records in attribute
table by using left mouse click.
- Click on the map to clear selection.
