Navigate from IFS Window to GIS Map

Explanation

This activity is used to create a custom right-mouse menu option. This enables navigation from a window in IFS to the GIS Map window e.g. from Linear Asset window (frmLinastLinearAsset) to GIS Map window (frmGisMapClient). This task should be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person.

Prerequisites

A custom menu must have been created in Custom Menu window. This window is found in Solution Manager/Configuration/Custom Objects/Menus and are usually made available for system administrators only.

Custom menu option must be enabled in the IFS business object window. This is enabled with a check box called Include Custom Items in business object's window, using the Properties dialog.

Consider the following for IFS business objects that you navigate with:

Right-mouse click in an IFS window and an option will enable you to navigate to GIS Map window.  Also notice the following when jumping from a window in IFS to GIS Map:

Procedure

Navigate from GIS Connections window

  1. Open GIS Connections window and search for records.
  2. Right-mouse click on records with the same LU Name and select Object Details to open the selection in business object's main window.
  3. Or, right-mouse click and select View in Map to show records in GIS Map window.

 

Create a custom menu called View in Map for Linear Asset window:

  1. Log on as a system administrator with access to to Custom Menu window and open it.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select the value frmLinastLinearAsset in the field Window.
  4. Select the value frmGisMapClient in the field Presentation Object.
  5. Select Action called Create Window with Transfer.
  6. In field called Menu Text, enter the text View in Map.
  7. Enter frmGisMapClient in the field Destination Window.
  8. Create one Key Translations for Source Key Name and Destination Key Name with value: LINEAR_ASSET_SQ
  9. Create a second Key Translations for Source Key Name and Destination Key Name with value: LINEAR_ASSET_REVISION_NO
  10. Add translations if needed.
  11. Click Save.

Enable a custom menu option to be shown in Linear Asset window:

  1. Log on as ordinary user and open Linear Asset window.
  2. Right-mouse click and select option Properties.
  3. Click on the check box Include Custom Items.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Right-mouse click and the option View in Map is now available.
  6. Select View in Map and it opens GIS Map window and where GIS objects are highlighted.
