Delete Template Structure

Explanation

Use this activity to delete (remove) a template structure that is in either the Preliminary or Obsolete status.

There are a number of limitations that could arise when you choose to remove an entire template structure. The primary issue here is that one template structure (e.g., XXX) can exist in a number of different template structures. For such instances, you need to remove the structure positions from the template structure (XXX) before this activity can be performed.

You can choose to remove the entire structure simultaneously, or remove it level-by-level. When you choose to remove the structure level-by-level, you must start with the lowest level of the structure, and remove each level until you reach the top level of the selected template structure.

Prerequisites

• A template structure can be removed only if it is not being used as a template for a serial structure. If there is one or more serial structures, the corresponding template structure can be set to Obsolete, but it cannot be removed.
• The Template structure must have either a Preliminary or Obsolete status.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the template structure (including connected details, such as, position alternates and dependencies) will be removed.

Procedures

Follow this procedure to remove the entire template structure:

1. Open the Serial Structure Template window and query (F3) for your template structure.
2. Right-click anywhere in the header, and then click Delete Template Structure.
3. Click OK to confirm the removal of the selected template structure.

Follow this procedure to remove the template structure level-by-level:

1. Open the Serial Structure Template or Template Structure Navigator window, and query (F3) for your template structure.
2. Click the Consist Of tab, select the row, right-click, and then click Next Level until the parts on the lowest level of the structure are displayed in the table.
3. To remove a part, select the row, right-click, and then click Delete Template Structure.
4. Click OK to confirm the removal of the selected part in the structure. Note: In order to delete the template structure, continue with this procedure until all parts on all levels of the structure are removed.
