Use Centralized Part Description

Explanation

This activity is used to fetch the centralized part descriptions for Inventory/Sales/Purchase parts from the Part Catalog description. This gives the advantage of having one place to maintain the part description value for a specific part.

Using the centralized part description will also allow the possibility of having translations of the descriptions due to the user selected session language.

As a result of this activity it is possible to indicate if the part description should be fetched from the part catalog description.

Procedure

  1. Open the Site window.
  2. Search for the site whose part description setting you wish to define.
  3. On the Extended Site Info/Inventory tab, select the Use Part Catalog Description for Inventory Part check box. If the part is an inventory part, the inventory part description is retrieved from the part catalog description.
  4. On the Extended Site Info/Sales and Procurement tab, select the Use Part Catalog Description for Sales Part check box. If the part is a sales part, the sales part description is retrieved from the centralized part description.
  5. On the Extended Site Info/Sales and Procurement tab, select the Use Part Catalog Description for Purchase Part check box. If the part is a purchase part, the purchase part description is retrieved from the centralized part description.
