Refill Putaway Zones
Explanation
This activity is used to define how to refill parts on
the specific
site based on the putaway zone ranking. No refill of putaway zones means that no
refill will be performed either automatically, manually or scheduled.
Note that the refill/optimization is using the same logic as for inventory
putaway, meaning that it will evaluate putaway zones, storage requirements,
standard putaway quantities etc. in order to store remaining parts on-hand on the
best available locations.
There are three different settings that can be used:
- No Refill - No refill job is triggered.
- From Putaway Zones -
When a refill job is triggered for parts
it will only consider moving parts that are within the defined putaway
zones for the part. If a part is moved outside of all defined putaway zones,
it will stay there. To trigger the automatic refill
job the Automatically Refill Putaway Zones check box must be selected
on the Warehouse/General tab in the
Warehouse Navigator
window. Manual or scheduled jobs can be triggered by clicking on the
Warehouse header in the Warehouse Navigator window and
then click Refill All Putaway Zones.
- From All Stock Locations -
When a refill job is triggered for parts, it will try to optimize the storage for all locations according to the putaway zone ranking setup. It would be the optimal usage of locations
according to putaway zones all the time. To trigger
the automatic refill job the Automatically Refill Putaway Zones check
box must be selected on the Warehouse/General tab in the
Warehouse Navigator window. Manual or scheduled jobs can be
triggered by clicking on the Warehouse header in the
Warehouse Navigator window and then click Refill All Putaway
Zones. Note that if you want to move parts outside the putaway zones you would need
to use part availability control in order to make the parts stay at that
location. Otherwise there will be transport tasks created to suggest a move
back to a location within the putaway zone definition.
Note:
- Automatic refill of putaway zones
means that whenever a part has a transaction, there will be an evaluation of the
locations and the quantity stored at those locations to see if there could be an
optimization done based on the putaway zone rankings setup for the part. If, for
example, you issue a quantity of the part from the pick-zone, this
evaluation will identify if there could be a refill done from a buffer-zone to
that of a pick-zone. If that is the case, there will be transport task
lines created automatically to handle that move.
- The default set on site for this parameter is inherited to all inventory
parts, but for each part it is then possible to define exceptions.
