Enter Availability Control ID

Explanation

This activity is used to view and create availability control records, which can be linked to inventory stock records or be set as a default part availability control in the Warehouse Navigator window. Part availability control is used for determining the availability when you make reservations on inventory part locations. By using parameters to indicate the status of goods received, reservations and issues of the part can be controlled.

The nettable parameter means that the part on this location is available and can be planned. When you use the automatic reservation parameter, automatic reservations can be made for parts without the availability control IDs and for parts with the automatic reservation set to Allowed. Manual reservations can always be made, regardless of the setting of the parameter. Parts on a quality assurance or arrival location are still seen as supply and are not affected by the nettable parameter.

The order issue parameter allows automatic order issues to be made depending on two conditions; parts with availability control IDs that have the part order issue control set to Order Issue, and parts without availability control IDs.

The non-order issue parameter allows non-order issues to be made for parts depending on two conditions; parts with availability control IDs that have the part non-order issue control set to Non-Order Issue, and parts without availability control IDs. The only possible way to make a non-order issue is to issue inventory parts using the Issue Inventory Part window.

Some location types, such as shipment, pallet buffer, and arrival are not available for reservation.

The scrap control parameter specifies whether the inventory parts can be scrapped manually from stock. This also includes scrapping that is performed on a quality assurance or arrival location upon inspection of a purchase receipt.

The counting control parameter specifies whether you can enter a quantity-counted value other than the quantity on hand value when performing the counting function.

Part movement control is used to control the movement of parts from its current location. If it is set to All Allowed, the movement of parts to another location is allowed. If the parameter is set to Not Allowed, the movement of parts is restricted and the parts cannot be moved to any location unless the availability is changed. This also applies to movements of parts to inventory from a quality assurance or arrival location in a purchase receipt.

The Putaway Zone Refill Source check box must be selected if a stock record with a part availability control should be considered as a source in the refill process.

Procedure

  1. Open the Inventory Basic Data window.
  2. Click the Part Availability Controls tab and, click New.
  3. In the Availability Control ID field, enter an appropriate ID of no more than 25 alphanumeric characters.
  4. Enter a description in the corresponding field.
  5. Select the appropriate values in the Part Supply Control, Part Auto Reservation Control, Part Manual Reservation Control, Part Order Issue Control, Part Non-Order Issue Control, Part Scrap Control, Part Counting Control, Part Movement Control and Putaway Zone Refill Source fields.
  6. Save the changes.
