Enter Pallet-Handled Part

Explanation

This procedure is one of many that you can use to complete the registration of an inventory part. It describes how conditions are set for pallet-handled parts, i.e., how to specify the quantity of parts per pallet and locations used for putaway of pallets.

Prerequisites

• The inventory parts must have been entered.
• To enter pallet locations, the system parameter for pallet handling must be set to Yes in the Parameters for Distribution and Manufacturing window.
• Adequate pallet locations must have been entered in Inventory Locations.

System Effects

Information on pallet handling of an inventory part is entered. The putaway zones to be used as a part of the perform putaway process are defined.

Procedure

1. In the Inventory Part window, query for the required inventory part record and click the Misc Part Info tab.
2. Enter the standard quantity of the part that a pallet generally holds in the Standard Putaway Quantity field.
3. Select the Pallet Handled check box to set the part as pallet-handled.
4. Click the Putaway Zones tab and enter the zones and order of those zones to be considered when performing putaway for the part.

Note: It is possible to use a mixture of different pallet location types as well as normal location types in the zones setup.

5. Save your changes.
