Define Terminating Action on Modification

Explanation

This activity is used to set up the intervals that determine when the terminating action is performed for the specified modification. The terminating action performs the actual modification of the serial or serial structure.

The execution of the modification may be defined based on one or more operational parameters per the assigned part. It is also possible to define one calendar interval or unit as one of the parameters for a given part. By default, the system calculates the due date for all operational parameters and the calendar interval, and then triggers the execution of the modification by selecting the one giving the earliest due date. It is also possible to indicate (by setting Last Due Date Trigger Execution on the part number) that the latest parameter should trigger the execution of the modification. All parameters and the calendar interval are then calculated, and the one giving the latest due date is selected.

Once the terminating action is performed on a serial, the modification is complied with or embodied.

You can also define the terminating action of a modification as described in Assign Part to Modification.

Procedure

Follow this procedure to set up the intervals that determine when the terminating action is performed for the specified modification.

  1. Open the Define Modification window and query the modification revision for which you will register terminating actions.
  2. Click the Execution tab, query for the relevant assigned part number, and then click the Terminating Action tab.
  3. Click New to create an empty row.
  4. A terminating action may be defined by operational parameter or by calendar limit. The operational parameter method sets the terminating action to occur at a specific operational value limit. The calendar limit method sets the terminating action to occur at a specific time interval. Select one of these methods:
  5. Enter a value in the Operational Parameter field and a value in the Limit field.
  6. Enter a value in Calendar Limit field and a value in the Calendar Unit field.
  7. Click Save.
