Define the Structure Position to remove

Explanation

This activity is used to register a structure position that is to be removed from a template structure. Structure positions in a template structure can become invalid as a result of a modification. This structure change will be introduced into the template structure through the modification revision on which this activity is performed. Note that the template structure will not be updated automatically. Instead, you need to manually remove the structure position from the template in either the Serial Structure Template or Template Structure Navigator window. For more information, refer the activity Update Template Structure.

Prerequisites

• The modification must have been created. This modification must be in the Preliminary status.
• The structure position to remove must exist in the template structure.

System Effects

• The structure position, and the serials and parts that are connected to this position, can be removed from the template structure. Note that the serials and parts valid for this position in the structure must be removed before the structure position can be removed.
• Once the modification is activated, the removed structure position is a valid missing position (even though it might not have been removed from the template structure yet) for a serial that has performed the modification. Note that a structure position is generally not physically removed from the template unless it is no longer used in any structures.

Procedure

1. Open the Define Modification window and query (F3) for the modification revision you want.
2. Click the Structure Impacts tab and then click the Template Changes sub tab.
3. Create a new record (F5).
4. In the Structure Impact Type list, click Remove Structure Position.
5. In the Template Part Number field, enter the template part number of the template part from which the structure position is to be removed. Use the List of Values to select a value.
6. In the Template Part Revision field, enter the preferred template part revision of the template part. Use the List of Values to select a value.
7. In the Impacted Structure Position field, enter the structure position that is affected by the modification. Use the List of Values to select a value.
8. Save the record (F12).
