Define Inspections on Modification
Explanation
This activity is used to define initial and continued inspections prior to
executing the modification. An inspection can have the
following definition.
An inspection for a modification might proceed as follows:
- Inspect aircraft every 400 FHR (Flight Hours) for
evidence of cracks. If nothing is found after 2000 FHR from the effective
date (recurs until 2000 FHR), terminate the inspection.
- If evidence of cracks are found after 400 FHR, increase
the intensiveness of the inspections to 200 FHR. If nothing is found after
4000 FHR from the effective date, terminate the inspection.
- If evidence of cracks are found after 200 FHR,
modification must be embodied on the serial. Calculation of the due date for
modification effective from the last execution of the 200 FHR inspection on
the serial or other execution plan, such as the next visit to the workshop,
can be used.
initial and continued inspections are performed as recurring inspections
until termination (defined by an operational parameter value or a calendar
interval). Or the inspection is performed with remarks, leading to the next step
of the inspection. Each step of the inspection is possible to define with one or
more operational parameters along with one calendar interval. When an inspection
has been executed with remarks, it is possible to proceed to the next step, or
to make the modification effective on the serial. Proceeding to the next step or
making the modification effective on the serial requires that the user indicates
how to proceed when reporting the inspection, locally in IFS/Vehicle Information
Management or on the work order. It will be possible to define two steps per
part, with an implicit third step:

Step 1 determines the intervals of the initial
inspection.

Step 2 determines the increased or decreased
incidence of the inspections.

Step 3 is an implicit step that leads to the
embodiment of the modification. The third step is a terminating action.
Prerequisites
- A modification, with a status of Preliminary, must be defined and
parts must be assigned to the modification prior to the definition of the
inspections.

Before Continued Inspections can be registered, you must have first
registered Initial Inspections.

- Modification task calculation can be run to calculate the due dates for
the initial and the continued inspections.

Procedure
To define initial and continued inspections:
- Query the modification revision you want to register inspections for in
the
Define Modification
window.
- Click the Execution tab, query for the relevant assigned
part number, and then click the Initial Inspections
or Continued Inspections
tab.
- If you enter Operational Parameter, the fields Inspection
Interval and Inspection Interval Limit become required fields.
Values for the Calendar Interval, Calendar Unit,
Calendar Limit,
and Calendar Unit Limit fields cannot then be entered.
- If the inspection is to take place based on calendar time (instead of or
in addition to operational use), you must enter a Calendar Interval.
If a value is entered in the Calendar Interval field,
Calendar Unit and Calendar Limit become required fields. The
fields Operational Parameter, Inspection Interval, and
Inspection Interval Limit cannot then be entered.
- Click Save.
