Retire

Explanation

Use this activity to change the state of a structure or routing alternative to Obsolete. A structure or routing alternative in Obsolete state is invisible to the system for allocations, demands, order operations, load, and planning and costing purposes. You cannot modify the structure or routing alternative and its components or operations at this state. The state of the structure or routing alternative can be changed to Buildable. The default alternative can be retired only for structures with Manufacturing, Purchase or Repair structure types that have parts with phase out dates that fall before the current date.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that the structure or routing alternative is in the Buildable state.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the system changes the state of the structure or routing alternative to Obsolete. If no structure alternatives for the part revision are in states Plannable or Buildable, the product status in the Inventory Part/Revisions tab is set to Not In Effect.

Procedure

1. Display the parent part by clicking Populate (F2) or by making a selective query (F3).
2. Select the structure or routing alternative in the Alternative list box.
3. Right-click in the Product Structure, Recipe Structure or Routings tab, then click Retire.
4. Click OK to the information message. This changes the status to Obsolete.
