Define Design FMEA Header
Explanation
Use this activity to define a design FMEA header, to
create an associated checklist, and to approve the header. A design FMEA header is the
connection between a structure alternate and a function, or intended purpose of a part. It
contains basic FMEA information such as FMEA type, status, and the user ID of the person
who created the FMEA record. Each header is associated with an FMEA checklist. This is a
list of questions that you must check off before changing the header's status from Created
to Approved.
Prerequisites
This activity requires the existence of a structure alternate.
To be able to approve the FMEA checklist and the FMEA header at least one risk priority number (RPN) must exist for the design FMEA. This means that at least one completely defined design FMEA function, failure, effect, cause and control must exist.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, you will have created a structure FMEA header with a
status of Approved.
