Change Part Revision for Serial

Explanation

This activity is used to manually update the revision number according to the value registered in the Change to Part Revision field (in Define Modification/Assign Part Revisions) for the part revision assigned to the modification. When a modification has been performed, it might result in a change of the assigned serial's part revision (or any of the parts in its structure). 

Prerequisites

• The new part revision of the serial must exist. For more information, refer to the activity Create New Revision.

System Effects

• The serial is connected to the new part revision.
• The operational condition of the serial is changed to Non Operational. A manual check must be made to ensure that the configuration of the serial is updated before the serial can be used.
• The serial gets the condition limits that are valid for the new part revision.
• The serial is automatically assigned to modifications that are valid for the new part revision and automatically unassigned from the modifications that are valid for the old part revision.

Procedure

1. Open the Define Modification window and query (F3) for the necessary modification revision.
2. Click the Assign Part Revisions tab and observe the new part revision registered in the Change to Part Revision field. For more information on specifying the new revision that was created as a result of a performed modification, refer the activity Assign Part Revision to Modification.
3. To perform the manual serial part revision change open the Serial Structure Information window and continue with the procedure given in the activity Change Revision.
