Create Node

Explanation

This activity is used to create and connect a new node in a consolidation structure. A node generally represents a group of entities of which the balances should be independently consolidated.

Prerequisites

In order to perform this activity, a consolidation structure should exist.

Procedure

To create a new node in a consolidation structure:

  1. Open the Consolidation Structurewindow and search for the consolidation structure for which the new node should be created.
  2. Right-click on the node (or top node) to which the new node should be connected and click Create New Node to open the Create New Node dialog box.
  3. Enter an ID for the node in the Node field.
  4. Enter a description for the node in the Description field.
  5. Enter a value in the Currency Code field to specify the currency in which the consolidated balances for the node should be presented. The List of Values can be used to select the relevant currency code.
  6. Enter the ownership percentage for the connection in the Ownership field.
  7. Select a value for the Consolidation Method field.
  8. In the Event Date field, enter the date on which the group of companies represented by the node were acquired.
  9. Modify the value displayed in the Period  field if required. (Note: A value is automatically displayed when the event date is entered.

  11. Enter a description in the Comment field if required.
  12. Double click on the Notes check box, if you want to enter notes about the creation of the new node.
  13. Click OK.

To create a new node as the top node:

  1. Perform steps 1-5 of the previous procedure.
  2. Select the Create as Top Node check box. (Note: The Node Above field is automatically cleared when you select this check box.)
  3. In the Ownership field, enter the ownership percentage relevant for the connection between the previous top node and the new top node.
  4. Select a value for the Consolidation Method field for the connection between previous top node and the new top node.
  5. Perform steps 8-11 of the previous procedure.
  6. Click OK.
