Assign Objectives to Individual Employees

Explanation

This activity is used to create an objective and then assign it to an individual employee. Creating individual objectives is helpful in measuring employee performance against an individual target related directly or indirectly to a job profile or employee's day-to-day project operations. It also helps define a development and career path for an employee.

Prerequisites

In order to perform this activity, the objective is required to be already created (not mandatory) in the Predefined Objectives and Activities window.

Procedure

  1. Open the Employee Objectives window and create a new record.
  2. Enter the employee ID in the Emp ID field. You can select a predefined value using the list.
  3. In the Objective ID field, enter the objective ID. You can select a predefined value using the list. It is also possible to define a new objective (which is not predefined) for the employee.
  4. Enter a description for the objective in the Objective Description field. If you have entered a predefined objective, the objective description will show by default.
  5. In the Performance Period field, specify the period of time for which the employee is assessed. You can also select a value using the list.
  6. Specify the objective weight in the Weight field. Note that the total of all objectives should reach a value of 100 percent. Therefore, the weight of one objective is a percentage of the total weight of all objectives against which your performance is measured.
  7. Enter the target value in the Target field.
  8. In the Responsible For field, indicate who is responsible for the fulfillment of the objective. Select a person using the list. If the field is left blank, system would enter the employee ID of the person to whom the objective is being assigned.
  9. Select the Use Activity Rating check box if you want to calculate the performance score of the objective based on the ratings given for activities.
  10. Save the information.
