Qualify Requirements

The basis of the qualifying process is the engineering requirements. For more details, see the business object Engineering Requirements. This process is very much a manual process, i.e., the process is not entirely supported by IFS Applications. Qualifying the requirements consists of throwing away or postponing a set of the requirements. The remaining requirements can be registered as Change Requests (CRs).

The process should consist of the following steps:

  1. Evaluate all requirements (manual).
  2. Register the requirements to fulfill.
  3. The requirements to process at a later time are postponed (manual).
  4. The requirements to delete are rejected (manual).
  5. For each CR generated, an approval routing will be established, i.e., establishing the persons who must approve the CR before anybody can go further with it and connect it to a Change Order (CO).
  6. If the CR results in new product functions, the Functional Description document must be extended.
  7. In the end, a preliminary change study is performed for each CR. The purpose is to reveal the consequences of performing the CRs.
