Replace Obsolete Part

Explanation

If you during the evaluation of the product range made any engineering part revisions obsolete, you should locate where the part is used. If the structure (in which the obsolete part is used) is not active, you can replace the obsolete part. You should evaluate whether you need to update the structures where the obsolete part is used, and replace it with another engineering part revision. If the obsolete part revision is to be replaced by another revision of the same part, you can easily replace the revision by the right mouse button menu option Replace Revision. Otherwise, if you want to replace the obsolete revision with another engineering part, you have to manually enter all structures where the obsolete part is used.

Replace obsolete part with an alternative part

For each engineering part you can specify alternative parts in Part/Engineering/Alternate Parts. You can check there to decide which part you want to replace the obsolete part with.

1. Populate Engineering Part Revision with the obsolete part.
2. Select the Where Used tab to identify all places where the part is used in a structure.
3. For each part structure you want to replace the obsolete part, follow step 4 to 8.
4. Select a part in the Where Used tab, whose structure you want to update.
5. Select the menu option Engineering Part Revision.
6. Locate the obsolete part in the Consist Of tab.
7. Remove the obsolete part.
8. Insert the new part to replace the obsolete part.
