Release Part Revision
Explanation
Use this activity to release a part revision to
production. Note that releasing a part is irreversible.
Prerequisites
- The part cannot be obsolete.
- The part, and all parts below it in the structure, must be active.
- The structure must be active.
- Characteristics must be approved.
- The manufacturer must be approved.
- The approval routing must be completed.
- All documents in the document survey must be approved.
- The document requirements must be fulfilled.
- All alternate part revisions must have Released
status or higher.
System Effects
- The part can no longer be modified in any way. Any change requires the
creation of a new revision.
- The number for last approved revision is updated in the engineering part.
- The part revision is time-stamped with the release date.
- A new line is added in the revision journal.
- The document survey is frozen and will be in the locked status. Refer to
the description on Document Object Connections for more information.
- New records cannot be added to either the approval routing or to the document
requirements.
- A characteristics snapshot is created if the engineering part has technical
characteristics.

Procedure
- Open the
Engineering Part Revision window and populate it.
- In the Part Number list, select the part you want to release.
- Right-click in the header, point to Status, and then click Release.
- Save the record.
