Create Product Model

Explanation

Use this activity to create one or more models for a newly created product. This optional task is to be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person.

Product models contain all of the functions for a complete product. A product model specifies one model of a product. Each product model can have a top-level part in an attached product structure.

Prerequisites

This activity has the following prerequisites:

Products must exist.
Product types must be defined.
PDM basic data must be entered.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

A product model is created.
Model functions can be registered if a top part is connected.

Procedure

To perform this activity in the Products and Models window, follow these steps:

Open the Products and Models window.
Query for the product to which you want to create a model.
Create a new row.
In the Model No field, enter up to 30 alphanumeric characters for the model ID.
In the Model Description field, enter the description.
To enter a top part number, select the number from the List of Values in the Top Part No field.
Save the changes.

To perform this activity in the Function Structure Navigator window, follow these steps:

Open the Function Structure Navigator window.
Create a new record in the header.
Select the product from the List of Values in the Product No field.
In the Model No field, enter up to 30 alphanumeric characters for the model ID.
In the Model Description field, enter the description.
To enter a top part number, select the number from the List of Values in the Top Part No field.
Save the changes.
