Create New Revision

Explanation

Use this activity to create the new revision required when you are making changes to a (released) revision. The very first revision must be created in Engineering Parts. All subsequent revisions can be created in Engineering Parts or Engineering Part Revision/Revision. 

Prerequisites

• An engineering part must exist.
• If you want to connect the new revision to a CO, the CO must exist.

System Effects

• A new revision is created.
• If you specified a CO number, the new revision will be connected to it.
• If you checked the Replace Revision check box, the Replace Revision wizard will be launched automatically when finishing the Create New Revision wizard. See the Replace Revision Activity for more information.

Procedure

Create a new revision in Engineering Parts, Engineering Part Revision/Revision or Engineering Part Revision/Additional:

1. Right-click and click Create New Revision.
2. Enter revision and revision text.
3. You can also connect the new revision to an existing CO by specifying the CO number or selecting it from the List of values.
4. If the previous revision has a structure, you can copy the structure by selecting the Copy Structure check box.
5. If the previous revision has a document survey, you can copy the survey by selecting the Copy Document Survey check box.
6. Click the Finish option to save the new part revision. It is enabled when the Revision and Journal Note fields are completed.
