Connect Part to Functions

Explanation

Use this activity to connect parts to functions in the function structure for a specified product model. Parts can be connected to only those functions at the bottom level of the structure. The function structure can be created with drag-and-drop, and you can connect parts to the bottom level functions. The function structure can also be modified with drag-and-drop, but functions with parts connected must always remain on the bottom level.

Prerequisites

• Functions exist for the product model.
• The engineering part exists.

Procedure

1. Select the function in the graphical display.
2. In a new line, enter the part number and part revision. Alternatively, if the Parts node is selected in the navigator and there is no Parts node for a function, right-click and select Add, then Parts to add a Parts node. On the root node this window will list all parts connected to the selected product and model. The window will the be read-only.
3. Save the connection.
