Procedure
Use the following procedure to enter the combination rules for a user group:
- Open Combination Rules.
- Use the New function and find the user group via the List of Values.
- Enter Allowed in the Allowed field.
- Mark all code parts with a percent sign (%) to set allowable code parts for the user group.
- Save the information.
- If you want some code parts to be not allowed for the same user group,
then use the New function again. Enter the user group and 'Not Allowed' in the Allowed
field. Then enter the information on the code parts. You can, for example, mark some code
parts as blocked. It is possible for a combination of code parts on the two rows to be
both legal and illegal. The illegal combination always takes precedence.
When you define combinations, there are several ways of marking the
code parts:
- Enter a value on the code part. For legal combinations, users in this user group can
enter this value on the code part. For illegal combinations, users in the group cannot
enter this value on the code part.
- Enter a space. For legal combinations, users in this user group can leave this code part
blank. For illegal combinations, users in the group cannot leave the code part blank.
- Enter a percent sign (%). For legal
combinations, users in this authorization class can enter any value on this code part. For
illegal combinations, users in this class cannot enter values on the code part. You can
also enter a figure in the Account field, making either legal or illegal all accounts
starting with that figure.
- Enter an underscore ( _ ). For legal combinations, users in this user group can enter
this code part no matter the value in this position. For illegal combinations, users in
the group cannot enter the code part if it contains a value in this position. For example,
if you specify that Code B _3_ is illegal, users
cannot enter code part B in any case where the code part is three characters and has 3 in the second position.
