Create External File Type Details from View

Explanation

Use this activity to create external file column definitions from a view definition. This enables a quick definition of record type details. Once they are created, the column details can be edited if necessary.

Prerequisites

An external file type that is not system-defined must be available, and the file type must consist of record types that do not yet have any details specified.

System Effects

The activity results in creation of record type details, where the column details corresponds to the column definitions of a view.

Procedure

1. Open the External File Type window.
2. In the detail tab , click on the record type for which column details should be created, right-click and then click Create Details From View Definition. This will launch a dialog box.
3. Supply the source component. Click List for the List Of Values with available components.
4. Supply the view name. Click List for the List Of Values with available views for the specified component.
5. Specify the Input Package if the file type is supposed to be used when reading a file and trying to add the data to a specific Logical Unit, associated with the package, via the standard New__ and Modify__ methods in the package.
6. Click OK to start the create details activity.
