Create Parts per Site

Explanation

This activity is used to create parts on a mass scale across one or more sites. By using an assortment node in combination with a list of sites, you can create all the parts which belong to the node for each of the sites. You may specify the sites either manually or through a site cluster structure.

Prerequisites

• An assortment structure must be defined and parts from the part catalog must be connected to it.
• The assortment must be in Active state.
• Site clusters must be defined if you wish to create parts through a particular group of sites.
• All the sites for which you want to create parts must be user-allowed sites.
• All necessary defaults must be defined for the assortment.

System Effects

• All the parts included in the assortment node will be created in all the sites indicated, subject to the following conditions.

• Sales parts will be created only if the Do Not Create Sales Part check box is cleared.
• Supplier for purchase part will be created only if the Do Not Create Supplier for Purchase Part check box is cleared.
• Purchase parts will be created only for parts which are not manufactured.

• The parts will be created with the defaults entered in the assortment structure.

Procedure

1. Open the Assortment window and search for the assortment you intend to use for this activity.
2. In the assortment structure, select the node which contains the parts you want to create, right-click and then click Create Parts Per Site. This opens the Create Parts Per Site dialog box.
3. Use one of the following approaches to enter the sites required.

• Click Add My Sites. You can then choose to have all your user-allowed sites on the list, or remove the ones you do not want to create parts for.
• Click Site Cluster. This opens a dialog box where you can manually enter the site cluster, site cluster level and site cluster node or click List to select values for these from the List of Values.
• Click New to create a new line. Then enter the site in the Site field or click List to select one from the List of Values. Enter all the sites you require by creating a new line for each.

4. Select or clear the Do Not Create Sales Part and Do Not Create Supplier for Purchase Part check box for each site, as appropriate.
5. Click OK.
