Cleanup of FIFO/LIFO Records

Explanation

This activity is used to remove FIFO/LIFO records from a site. When using FIFO or LIFO as the inventory valuation method, you will receive many records in the Inventory Part Cost FIFO, Inventory Part FIFO Detail, Inventory Part FIFO Issue and Inventory Part FIFO Unissue tables.

System Effects

• All FIFO/LIFO records with a zero quantity and a transaction date prior to the number of days specified in the Days Before Current Date field, are removed from the mentioned tables.
• If you have scheduled the task as a background job, the task will be automatically performed based on the defined selection criteria.

Procedure

You can either perform the cleanup of FIFO/LIFO records directly (procedure A), or schedule the task as a background job (procedure B).

A. To perform the cleanup of FIFO/LIFO records directly:

1. Open the Cleanup of FIFO/LIFO Records window.
2. In the Site field, specify the site for which you want to remove FIFO/LIFO records. The default site is given automatically, but it can be changed. Click List to select from available sites.
3. Enter a value in the Days Before Current Date field. FIFO/LIFO records with a transaction date before the specified number of days (prior to today's date which is the system date) will be deleted.
4. Click OK.

B. To perform the cleanup of FIFO/LIFO records as a scheduled task:

1. Click Schedule, it will open New Database Task Schedule window. Set the scheduling parameters as desired and save.
