Create Documents using Drag-and-Drop

Explanation

This activity is used to drag and drop files to IFS Document Management from your computer.

Prerequisites

To perform this activity, document files must be created and saved in your computer.

As a result of this activity, files are imported into IFS Document Management and documents are created.

Procedure

Create documents using drag-and-drop

  1. Open the Document Revision window.
  2. Select the file(s) from your computer and drag and drop to the upper part of the Document Revision window. The Create Documents dialog box is opened.
  3. Change document information if necessary and create the document. The document(s) are created and the Document Revision window opens so that you can continue to work with the documents.

Hint: The same steps as above can also be done in the Document Revisions window. After the documents are created, they will be shown in this window instead.

Attach file using drag-and-drop

  1. Open the Document Revision window.
  2. Query for a document which does not have a file attached.
  3. Drag and drop a file to the header. It will be attached to the document.

Create document(s) and connect to object

  1. Query for the object to which a document is to be connected. (e.g., in the Prepare Work Order window for a work order).
  2. Click Attachments.
  3. Drag and drop a file(s) to Attachments. Based on the default value entered for ATTACH_DROP_SINGLE_FILE_FORM in Document Basic/ Document Default Values form, either Create New Document dialog or Create Documents dialog or Create Document Assistant is opened for a single document and the Create Documents dialog box is opened for multiple documents.
  4. Change document information if necessary and create the document.

Create documents and connect to document folder

  1. Open the Document Folder Navigator window and query for the document folder.
  2. Click the Documents or All Documents tab.
  3. Drag and drop a file(s) to the table. The Create Documents dialog box is opened for multiple documents. Create the document(s).
     

Note: To use the same document class and format for all documents when importing more than one file, enter the information in the header fields and click Apply.

Documents can also be dragged and dropped in the Engineering Part Navigator/Documents tab and the Function Structure Navigator/Documents tab.

Macro settings will not be considered when importing multiple document files.
