Document Requirements

Document requirements contain information about all the document classes that should be generated as documents for a business object before it can be released, such as an engineering part revision, project part definition or project item. You can use a document requirement profile, modify a profile, or create a tailored document requirement list. The document requirements of the object can be viewed in the Attachment Panel/ Document Requirements, where either the document requirement list of the profile or the specific document requirements of the part is shown.

The document requirement profile and the document requirements can be defined in the Document Basic/Document Requirement tab. Each requirement defines a document class and up to five document categories. More detailed information about the document is entered in the Document Management module when the document is created.

If an engineering part revision or project item does not require any documents, the document requirements should not be used.

When using document requirements in PDM Configuration, you can view information about document requirements both in the Engineering Part Revision/Document Req. tab and in the Engineering Part Revision/Development Status/Doc.Req tab.
