The Alternate Screen Layouts option enables the user to create a custom layout for the Document Revision window. Creating an alternate screen layout enables you to configure which fields, labels and tabs you want to display and switch between the default layout and alternate layout when necessary.
Alternate screen layouts are useful when you have users with different skill levels or different work tasks in your organization. Less experienced users can use a simplified Document Revision window compared to advanced users who could use the default layout.
Prior to using this option, the DOC_INFO_ALT_LAYOUT default value in Basic Data must be given a value. This value should be given as the PROCESS parameter in the Properties of the new window that you create as an alternate layout.
In the Web client it is possible to create an alternate layout for the Document Revision page by simply adding the __PAGE_COPY= parameter with a value to the address bar (e.g:__PAGE_COPY=COPY1) after the page address and modifying the layout afterwards. __PAGE_COPY has the exact same purpose as PROCESS in the Windows client. It is also possible to create an alternate layout using a menu command and saving it in the My Links portlet.
