This about description explains how you can register cost and hours on a compatible unit and report estimated and planned cost/hours to project activities.
To be able to make estimations, a company needs to be connected to the compatible unit.
Estimations for execution items are based on the planned cost/hours of connected material, operations and tools and facilities. For a compatible unit, the estimated cost/hours are extracted from the estimations of the connected execution items.
Estimations for material, operations and tools and facilities are updated automatically once the compatible unit is connected to a company. If the compatible unit is already connected to a company, new material, operations and tools and facilities lines are updated with their costs at the time of creation. This automatically fetched planned cost/hours can be manually updated using the right click option Estimated Cost/Hours.
A summary of the cost and hours is shown both on execution items and compatible units, both for a specific level or for the whole structure within the compatible unit.
Project ID can be defined for compatible units, project activities can be defined for execution items belonging to the compatible unit. Activities need to be selected from the project to which the compatible unit is connected.
A specific revision in the compatible unit structure can be marked as the estimated revision. By this the existing cost/hour associations of this revision's execution items will transfer to estimations in relevant project activities. Any cost/hour associations added later on will not transfer to estimations in relevant project activities.
When a compatible unit is released, execution items belonging to that compatible unit will create a connection with project activity defined for the execution item and start reporting planned cost and hours. This will occur even if the execution items are added to the compatible unit after being released.
When changing the activity for an execution item, on a released compatible unit, the connection will change according to the new activity.
Estimates for material is simulated based on Posting Type M1 (INVENT/Inventory) if the supply code is Project Inventory. If the supply code is Inventory Order, relevant posting type is M50 (PCM/ISSUE ON WORK ORDER). Estimates for operations is simulated based on Posting Type T1 (PCM/TIME REPORTING). Estimates for tools and facilities is simulated based on Posting Type TF1 (PCM/TOOLS AND FACILITIES COST).
