Sequencing Window
Usage
Use this window to sequence shop order operations in a given machine (work center resource). There are two distinct ways to perform sequencing operation.
-
Characteristic Values: Use this option to sequence shop order operations in ascending or descending, alpha or numeric order of the inventory part characteristics associated with the parts being manufactured by those operations.
Sequencing logic will try to ensure operations which manufacture
parts with the same characteristics to be scheduled as close as possible to each other.
For example if temperature and color are the characteristics associated with parts,
user can take this option to keep similar colors together by defining
the color as the first sequencing criteria. Order of the operation can be further sorted if they have similar colors as the first sequencing criteria,
having temperature as the second sequencing criteria.
- Least Amount Of Accumulated Operation Setup Time: When two operations are scheduled close to each other,
machine has to set up specifically to perform succeeding operation based on the characteristics of the parts being manufactured.
If so, the setup time has to be defined in the setup matrix as a basic data. There can be many characteristics
associated with the part being manufactured. Different setup times due to different characteristics can occur because of this reason and it is possible to use this window to sequence shop order operations which would create
minimum accumulated operation setup time in
such events as well.
