This activity is used to create a locational object structure. This can be done either by adding a locational parent to an object or defining a locational child for an object. A locational structure arranges design objects in terms of physical placement, such as buildings, parts of buildings, floors, levels, and rooms, which lie atop real design objects such as pumps, motors, and tanks. A plant locational structure, provides an additional navigational system where design objects and their information can be found using a familiar site location or building structure.
Both the parent class and the child class must be configured to enable locational children and a locational parent respectively in Class Relations.
A locational object structure is created.
Use the following procedure to create a locational structure by adding a locational parent object:
Use the following procedure to create a locational structure by adding a locational child via drag and drop:
A successful drag and drop occurs when the receiving object accepts the locational child object. An invalid drag and drop operation, e.g., dropping the design object into the wrong folder, results in an error message. Drag and drop connects and saves simultaneously. Refer to About Tree Views for the allowed drag and drop operations.
