Connect Additional Parts to Design Object

Explanation

This activity is used to manually connect additional parts to a design object as opposed to automatically inheriting additional parts as described in the Inherit Additional Parts from Design Part activity. These additional parts are considered to be the material requirements for purchasing, maintenance, and fabrication and assembly activities. Individual requirements are identified by different quantity values registered along with the additional parts.

Prerequisites

The object's class must allow additional parts as defined in its Class Relations.

System Effects

An additional part is connected to a design object. If a valid project connection exists, these additional parts automatically insert records for  ERMPL demands.

Procedure

  1. Open the Additional Parts window.
  2. Click New
  3. In the Plant field, enter the plant owning the design object to which the additional part will be connected. Use the List of Values to select a suitable value. The user's default plant, if specified in the User Settings dialog box, will be displayed by default.
  4. In the Object ID field, enter the ID of the design object to which the additional part will be connected. Use the List of Values to select a suitable value.
  5. In the Design Part ID field, enter the ID of the design part/additional part to be connected. Use the List of Values to select a suitable value. Note: If the additional part is not found in the List of Values it may not yet have been created or the design part class is not set up to serve as a design part for the object's class according to the class' class relations.
  6. By default, the values for the Spare Part Qty and Purchase Qty fields are set to 1. Adjust these values, as required.
  7. In the Fabrication Qty and Assembly Qty fields, enter quantities as required.
  8. In the Fabrication Type and Supply Type fields, select the suitable types, for the additional part being defined, from the List of Values and list respectively.
  9. Click Save. Note: If the additional part has an Unavailable status, a system prompt displays up asking if you want to add this additional part. Clicking Yes adds the unavailable additional part, whereas clicking No does not add the unavailable additional part.
  10. Repeat the above steps to add more additional parts.

Alternatively open the Design Object window, query for the design object for which the additional parts are being defined and perform steps 2-8 with the exception of 4, as the additional parts will be created for the design object displayed in the header of this window.
