Define Serial Object For Design Object
Explanation
This activity is used to create a serial object and connect it to an
equipment object in IFS/Equipment. A part number is added to the design object
and a serial number is assigned to that part number. The design object's design
status is changed and the serial object is created and connected to the
equipment object.
Prerequisites
- IFS/Service and Maintenance and IFS/Part Catalog must be installed.
- Serials should be allowed for the Object Level of the design object
class, for which the serial object is being created, in
Equipment
Basic Data.
System Effects
- A value for the part number and serial number is saved on the design object. By
changing the design object's design status, a serial part is created in the
serial part catalog, a serial object and an equipment object are created in
IFS/Equipment. The serial object is connected to the parent equipment object.
- After the serial object is created and connected
to the equipment object, the Equipment Object Structure command will be
made available. This is used to
navigate to the parent equipment object and its serial object child from the Business Object Explorer.
- History events are logged on the design object for the creation of the
serial object, and for the serial object connection to the equipment object.
