Release Quantity not Reserved from Shipment
Explanation
This activity is used to release the shipment connected quantity that is not
reserved. This is used when the person responsible for the shipment decides that
only what is reserved and picked should be delivered with the current shipment. This activity can be executed either manually or automatically. Whether or not
to release not reserved quantity automatically, is controlled by the shipment
type of the shipment. In the shipment type, you can define that not reserved
quantity should be release at the execution of a main activity in the shipment
flow e.g. reservation, report picking etc.
Prerequisites

The shipment must be in the Preliminary state.
System Effects

For non-package parts, the shipment line quantity will
be reduced to be equal to what is reserved.

For package parts, the shipment line quantity will be reduced to be equal
to what
corresponds to the most reserved component.

If the shipment line has no reservation at all, the shipment line will be
removed.

The reduced or removed quantity will be available for connection to shipment
again.

If a handling unit structure has already been automatically generated or
manually created, then when you release the quantity not reserved, the
handling unit structure might need to be reviewed.
Note: Transport
documents must be reprinted after the handling unit structure is altered.

Procedure
To release not reserved quantity manually:

Open the Shipment window,
the Shipments window or the
Consolidated Shipment/Connected Shipments tab.

Retrieve the shipment for which you want to release all quantities not
reserved, by using the populate or query function.

In the shipment header, right-click and then click Release
Quantity not Reserved.
To release not reserved quantity automatically:

Execute a main activity in the shipment flow, e.g.
reservation or report picking.

Quantity not reserved will be released from the shipment,
if the main activity has this defined as an optional event in the shipment
type.
