Set Serial Structure Out Of Operation
Explanation
This activity is used to set the operational status for
the selected serial and all serials below it in the structure to Out Of
Operation. You can use this activity during the following instances:
- when you build a serial structure and want to set
its operational status from Planned For Operation to Out Of
Operation for the first time
- if there are some serials in the serial structure
that have the Out Of Operation status whilst the other serials do not
When the structure is In Operation the
operational condition of all serials in the structure will be Operational.
Once the operational status of the structure is changed from In Operation
to Out Of Operation, you can change the operational condition of all
serials in the structure to Non Operational.
When building a new serial structure, the operational status is initially set
to Planned For Operation and the operational condition to Non
Operational. If the serials are not new (but new within the system), the
serial's history data must be entered in the
Component Life
window. To do this, the serials must be in the Out Of Operation status.
When the serials are set to Out Of Operation, default values are created
for the operational log and interval maintenance. The serials are assigned to
modifications if the serials are within a defined serial range or if the serials
have a part number which is assigned to the modification.
If the operational status is changed from Planned For Operation to
Out Of Operation while the Set Structure Operational check box is
selected, the structure is verified and validations are performed (these are the
same validations that are performed when a structure is set to In Operation).
Once the operational condition of the serials is set to Operational, the
structure is complete. You are highly recommended to verify the new total
operational values and other information entered in the Component Life
window.
Functional options for resetting serial structure properties, for the
selected serial and all serials below in the structure, are available in the
Serial Structure Information/General tab. When changing the operational
status of a serial in the General tab, it will be possible to
change the condition code of the serial if the Condition Code functionality is
enabled for the part number in IFS/Part Catalog.
Prerequisites
- The Set Structure Out Of Operation option is enabled only
if the operational status of the serial is set to a
value other than Out Of Operation.
System Effects
- The operational status for the selected serial and all
the serials in
its structure is set to Out Of Operation status.
- If the current operational status of the
serial is Planned For Operation when you change it to Out
of Operation, you are prompted to enter a
structure change date that is used to create an entry in the
replacement history if the serial is installed in a structure. This creates an entry in the
replacement history for all of the serials in the structure in addition to the serial you have
selected.
- If the operational status is
changed from Planned For Operation to Out Of Operation and Set Structure Operational is selected, all serials
receive the operational condition Operational if the structure is validated and found to
be acceptable.
- All due calculations for the serial will be run to calculate due dates
and values.

Procedure
Follow one of these procedures to change the operational status of a serial from
the Serial Structure Information window:
Serial has an operational status of In Operation
- Open the
Serial Structure Information window and query (F3) for
the necessary serial.
- Right-click anywhere in the header of the window (or anywhere in the
General tab), and then click Set Structure Out of Operation.
- A message appears requiring confirmation of the status change. Click
Yes to change the operational status to Out of Operation.
Follow this procedure to change the operational status of a serial and it's
structure from Planned for Operation to Out of Operation:
- Query (F3) for a serial that you want to set Out
Of Operation.
- Right-click anywhere in the header of the window (or
anywhere in the General tab) and click Set Structure Out Of Operation
to open the Set Serial Out of Operation dialog box (see Set Serial Out of
Operation).
- Enter a
structure change date used to create an entry in the
replacement history if the serial is installed in a structure. This creates an entry in the
replacement history for all the serials in the structure and the serial you have
selected.
- Click OK to change the operational status to Out Of Operation.
Follow this procedure to set the operational status of a serial to Out of
Operation:
- Open the
