Lock Serial
Explanation
This activity is used to lock a serial and its belonging structure. When a
serial is locked, you cannot perform any changes to the serial in the system,
except for the completion of running tasks. You can view information on locked
serials. Following is a list of operations that cannot be performed on a serial
that is locked:
- Changes of serial data (includes vehicle data if the
serial is a vehicle)
- Changes in the serial structure (complete structure
is locked)
- Changes for serial transportation routes
- Operational logging for a structure containing
locked serials
- Registration of faults (both serial and vehicle)
- Condition measures
- Task calculation for interval maintenance
- Assigning to modifications
- Definitions of start values
- Planning of operational events
- Distribution of pending tasks
Prerequisites
- The serial must be a top serial (i.e., not have a connected parent). If the
serial is connected to a parent, the serial has to be removed from the
parents structure before you can lock the serial.
- The serial must have an operational status of either In Operation or
Out Of Operation.
System Effects
- All serials in the entire structure are locked. Depending on which window
or tab is opened, the Locked or Locked for Update check box
will be selected.
- You cannot perform any changes to the serial record other than for
completing any running tasks.
- Serials that are locked will not be assigned to modifications. The
serials that are not locked will be assigned to modifications.
