Perform this activity to directly execute or
schedule a history logging for a project. A history logging takes a snapshot of
activities and object connection information at a particular instance. The
snapshot would include all the important parameters which describe the progress
in a project.
If the project has history logging, the
History tab
in the Project
Navigator window will show a graph for Committed, Scheduled Work,
Earned Value Used and Actual cost or hours. Depending on the level in
the project structure, the graph will show values for the whole project,
subproject or activity.
A scheduled history logging must be turned off when the project has been
completed or closed, otherwise unnecessary logging will continue. A scheduled
history logging can be deleted in Scheduled Tasks under General.
A project activity must exist.
When logging is performed, data concerning the history logging is saved. Note that every history logging saves a set of data, and each set can be over ridden by the latest set of data if desired. Also, if the project is big, history logging could decrease system performance.
