Cancel Task
Explanation
This activity is used to cancel a planned or running task. When a
task is in the Incomplete or Under Preparation status, the task can
be cancelled without any additional validations. However, when the task is in
either the Released or Started status, the status of the
underlying operations will be used to determine whether the task can be
cancelled or not. In such instances, it is only possible to cancel a task if the
underlying operations are in the New, Released or Cancelled
statuses.
Note: If you are canceling a task with the
distribution type Work Order in a distributed environment, you must
cancel the work order created for the task in IFS/Work Order Management. To do this,
use the Status feature to set the status of the work order to Cancelled in
either the
Prepare Work Order or Report In Work Order
window. However, if you are working in a non-distributed environment, you can
cancel the task directly from the maintenance order.
Prerequisites
- A valid cancellation cause must have been defined in basic data.
- You need to have access to the cancellation cause.
System Effects
- The task is cancelled and the status of the task
set to New. This task is disconnected from the current maintenance
order.
- If the task was in the Planned in Scope,
Incomplete or Under Preparation status prior to canceling,
cancellation history will not be generated.
- If the task was in either the Released or
Started status prior to canceling, a history record will be
generated in the Task Cancellation History. The task will be shown as a
Cancelled task on the maintenance order. If the cancelled task is
distributed with the distribution type Work Order or Execution
Logic Structure, an additional history record with the Cancelled
status will be generated in the Historical Work Order in IFS/Work Order
Management.
- The task becomes a pending task or a convenience
task again and can be
redistributed.
- If the task is cancelled on a maintenance order
with the Execution Logic Structure distribution type, the task
operations will be removed automatically from the corresponding Execution
Logic Structure (ELS).
- If the serial is defined as a vehicle serial and the cancelled task is the last
running task (i.e., no other tasks exist) for the serial, the
vehicle condition of the serial is automatically set to the vehicle
condition code defined with the auto setting Set when last task is finished.
For more information, refer to the activity
Define Vehicle Condition.
- If the task being cancelled is from a previous maintenance program or
from an obsolete modification, depending on the task type the due
calculation for interval maintenance or modification will run automatically
for the serial to calculate new due dates and values.

optional. The information entered in this field will be included in the CRS Documentation: Work Cancelled report.
- Click OK.
Note: It is also possible to cancel a task in the Maintenance
Order/Included Tasks tab by using the above-mentioned Status feature.
