Review Action Details and Release for Completion

Explanation

This activity is used for releasing the Corrective or Preventive Action for Completion. This means that there is a person responsible for the corrective action and it is decided what the corrective action should be.

If the record did not contain more data than the Corrective or Preventive Action description when it was created, in this step it is possible to fill the record with data based on what type of Corrective or Preventive Action it is, what the root cause is as well as who is responsible for the Corrective or Preventive Action. You can also add action lines.

Prerequisites

A Corrective or Preventive Action should exist in the Created status.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the status of the Corrective or Preventive Action is changed to Released.

Procedure

  1. In the Corrective and Preventive Action window, in the Responsible Person ID field, enter the ID of a responsible person or click List to select a value from the List of Values. Entering a value in this field is mandatory.
  2. In the Investigation Notes field, enter a note. Entering a value in this field is optional.
  3. In the Root Cause ID field, enter any known information about the corrective and preventive action or click List to select a value from the List of Values. Entering a value in this field is optional.
  4. In the Target Date field, enter a target completion date. Entering a value in this field is optional.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Right-click and then click Release. The status of the corrective and preventive action record changes to Released.

To add action lines to the corrective or preventive action:

  1. Select the Actions tab in the Corrective and Preventive Action window.
  2. Click anywhere in the table to select it. 
  3. Create a new record.
  4. Note that the Line No field is system-generated.
  5. Enter the Responsible Person ID. This is a required field. The value is fetched from the CAPA header, but you can change it.
  6. Enter a date in the Target Date field. This is a required field.
  7. Click Save.
