Usage

Use this window to check the availability of a part and its components based on a specific need date and quantity. Only plannable and buildable revisions and only manufacturing and purchase structure types can be selected for this simulation. The data can be sorted by Revision No in descending order.

The explosion logic explodes the complete bill of materials (BOM), however if components have sufficient on-hand and open supply to cover demand then the netting explosion is stopped. Unaffected components are removed.

By selecting Show All Levels the user can see the complete BOM.

The availability messages help in determining whether or not to create new supplies for the given part. The messages and the respective indications are as follows;

• Available covers Demand: there is no need to create new supply.
• Available + Open Supply covers Demand: there is no need to create new supply.
• Need Orders: there is a need to create new supply. However the calculated start date of this supply will be later than or equal to today (i.e., the system date).
• Min Simulated Start Date earlier than Today: there is a need to create new supply. The calculated start date of this supply will be earlier than today (i.e., the system date).
• Not Calculated, Parent Qty OK: the components have not been netted because there is sufficient parent quantity available. This message is only displayed if the Show All Levels check box is selected.
