Perform Shop Order Split

Explanation

This activity is used to split shop orders. Shop order splits are used to respond to material and schedule changes in the manufacturing environment. CRO pegged shop orders cannot be split via this activity.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that:

• A shop order with a quantity available to receive must exist.
• The split reason must have been defined on the Split Checklists Basic Data window Split Reason Code tab.
• A shop order should not have automatic pegging against customer order.
• If a material order line is manually pegged against a purchase order line or a shop order, the pegging has to be removed first.
• If the parent part is manually pegged against a customer order line or a shop order, the pegging has to be removed first.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• A new shop order will be created by the system in the status of Planned. The original part number, material and operations are used by default, but you can modify the shop order after the split.
• If the shop order is manually connected to a project activity or the shop order is connected via project delivery, the new shop orders will be connected to the project/activity the same way as the original shop order was before the split. The planned committed cost of the shop order is also split and the project activity is updated accordingly.
• If the material issued or reserved exceeds the new lot size of the parent shop order, the excess material will be released back to inventory. Also, any reported quantity even if it exceeds the new lot size of the parent shop order, will remain in the parent shop order.
• If the parent part is multilevel-tracked and if the as-built structures exist, the as-built structures of the serials/lot batch numbers assigned to the child shop order will be lost as the child shop order is created in the Planned status.

Procedure

To split a shop order using the data view:

1. Open the Shop Order or Shop Orders window.
2. Query for the shop order.
3. Right-click, point to Merge and Splits and then click Split Shop Order.
4. Select either Discrete Split or Percentage Split.
5. Enter a shop order number. If this field is left blank, the system will assign one.
6. Enter values in the Shop Order Type and Split Reason fields. To display the split reason codes, click List.
7. For a discrete split, enter a value in the Lot Size field. For a percentage split, enter values in the Split Percentage and Lot Qty Rounding fields.
8. Optionally, select a different operation number in the Starting Operation field. This number is where the operations routing in the new shop order will begin.
9. You can define more than one order that split will create in the table, up to the distribution of the total original lot size.
10. Click OK.

To split shop orders using the visualization view:

1. Open a visualizer enabled window and query for the site needed.
2. If the Data View is displayed, click Visualization View on the title bar.
3. Right-click and click Select Visualization. The Select Visualization dialog box is opened.
4. Double-click Shop Order Machine Load.
5. Right-click and click Group By/Shop Order.
6. Right-click on a shop order (the horizontal inner bar) and click Split Shop Order to split the shop order.
7. Select either Discrete Split or Percentage Split.
8. Create a new record in the table.
9. Enter a shop order number. If this field is left empty, the system will assign a value.
10. Enter values in the Shop Order Type and Split Reason fields. To display the split reason codes, click List.
11. For a discrete split, enter a value in the Lot Size field. For a percentage split, enter values in the Split Percentage and Lot Qty Rounding fields.
