Enter Location Groups

Explanation

Use this activity to create new inventory location groups. The purpose of a location group is to group several locations of the same location type, e.g., one group for picking locations, one for floor stock, one for pallet, and one for buffer locations. There are twelve different types of inventory locations in IFS Applications, and each location group must be linked to one of these system defined location types. At least one location group must be set up before any inventory location can be defined. This mandatory task is to be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person.

Each inventory location must be associated with a location group, and the location type determines what can be done with inventory at that particular location. For example, since parts can be handled by pallets or individually, this would affect the choice of location types, e.g., pallet arrival or arrival location.
